This Week in the Refresh Project

LV-Donation

July is slipping away, which means there’s only a week or so left to vote for your favorite ideas. While 1,086 great ideas are in the running, we are excited to see which will rise to the top by August 1st. It’s been an exciting journey, seeing these great projects impacting so many lives. Here at GOOD, our Grant Managers have been keeping busy, keeping tabs on those fortunate grantees.

Grant Manager Lisa Riggs is working with the Varsity Girls Basketball Team of Capital Christian School, who left early last Saturday morning for a three week journey across the United States, while stopping to volunteer, lead basketball clinics and give donations along the way. They first stopped in Las Vegas where the players and coaches rolled up their sleaves in the kitchen of the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.

Natalie Rich, the unofficial team mom, reminisced about their journey. “Our team felt really good about being able to serve and contribute not just with hands on time,” Rich said. “But also with a sizeable donation and much needed bottled water. We are a blessed group indeed.”

Nevada-After getting in some practice time on a basketball court in Arizona, the team is on its way to help out at the City Rescue Mission in Oklahoma and the Stars of Hope Mission in Houston, Texas. Then they’ll conduct a two-day basketball clinic in New Orleans with Pressing on Basketball Ministries. Then they’re off to Atlanta where the team will play in a tournament and volunteer at the Atlanta Dream Center whenever they’re off the court. Finally, following a tour at Duke University, the team will be making its final stop at Homes for Kids in Norfolk, VA in early August. What an exciting journey. Keep shooting, girls!
