Overview

My dream is to create an after school harp program for at risk, low-income youths who would not otherwise have the opportunity.  The students will learn coordination skills and musical skills, including counting music and identifying notes.  Teamwork will be an integral component of the program.  Students will work together in small groups or with a partner to learn simple arrangements and eventually perform for others.  Parents will be asked to sign a contract to support their children in completion of homework and classroom learning.

After playing my harp for a 6th grade class this year, one of the students asked me to teach him how to play.  Learning the harp is changing his life.  I wish to share the music of the harp with other students.  Much like the teacher in the movie, "Music of the Heart," I have witnessed how music can make a difference and touch the hearts of students who may not otherwise have the experience.
